Mountain Biking Mammoth Lakes, Mammoth Mountain & the Inyo

3-8-2015 – 5PM – Welcome to Mountain Biking in Mammoth Lakes.

Not sure what to say but take a look at this image I got today looking down from 8400 feet here in Mammoth Lakes.   It’s all snow free on March 8th from 8000 feet and below.  Mammoth Lakes Mountain BikingIt’s during time’s like these that you need to take advantage of the early season and get some high elevation mountain biking in.

You’re going to need cool weather riding gear, but depending on the day it’s perfect late morning until 4pm with daylight savings time in effect.

Snowman is breaking out his bikes this week and will come back with a update in a few days with the fine details on the local mountain biking conditions.  I am thinking all the Inyo National Forest Trail are ridable the earliest ever.

More on Mountain Biking in Mammoth:  The riding opportunities are just about limitless. First you have the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park and second the entire Inyo National Forest.

These two areas will offer you endless single tracks trails and dirt roads making for a complete mountain biking experience.

Kamikaze Downhill Race 2007 – Mtn Biking Video
The famous Kamikaze Race still takes place every year. To get to the start you ride the Gondola to 11,053 Feet! These days this race is a low key event held on a Thursday.  Click here for the video & write up.

Velocity – Mtn Biking Video
This trail is a very popular downhill trail that you access via the gondola. Exit at Mc Coy Station and follow the sign to downhill action. We are working on a fresh edit with new footage from last season. Look for that post in June!  Click here for the Velocity Trail Video.

Shot Gun Trail – Mtn Biking Video
This trail rocks you right out of the park.  The trails head is located right near the top  of chair 7.  It is easy to find from the Bike Park Trail map! Click here for the shot gun trail video

California State Downhill Championships – Mtn Bike Video
