I am out here on the slopes of Mammoth Mountain and it’s absolutely dumping out there at this time.

We picked up 7-10 inches yesterday and 2-3 inches so are today and I am expecting another 8-10 inches over the next 36 hours.

A couple more impulses moving into the area … Let’s pull up your ha …. a little bit winded sorry guys

Lets pull up your satellite feed there and you can see some weak impulses
headed toward the sierra

The orographic lift is really squeezing out everything is possibly can for us.

Let’s take a look at that radar and radar is looking a bit weak but as you can see but as you can see it is just dumping out here on the hill.

QPF Charts here showing about .7 to . 8 , they have been under forecasting all year so maybe we will see a foot up top by morning.

Today they did run chairs 3, 5, and 9 so those are all tracked out as of 11 am the top is still sitting there untouched so who knows maybe we will get a window by tomorrow if not Saturday will be the day.

So if your thinking about coming up to Mammoth now is the time cause winter is back.

Snowman here with ya, lol I left the windows open last night thinking it was still summer.

Got a bit chilly with a temperature of 28 as of 6:30 am out on my deck at 8100 feet here in old mammoth.

With that low temperature we got just a bit of frost in my area. I was able to grab the photo below to prove there was frost over here.  Check out the image at our Mammoth Weather Site.

We are now seeing Fall colors in all areas of the Eastern Sierra. Most areas are a couple weeks from peak. Read more information below.

Right now at the top of Chair 22 we have NW winds gusting to 7. Temperatures at the top of Lincoln at 10,000 feet about 43.

Here in town I have a temperature around 40 with no winds at times. Look for highs in Mammoth Lakes in the 60s with 50s in the Lakes Basin and up on Mammoth Mountain. Things will be warming up the next 3-5 days. Get complete details of the weather in mammoth here.

Campgrounds that are open will be reduced over the next couple weeks. In town New Shady Rest and the Mammoth Mountain RV park are open with lot’s of open spaces at this time. Check our camping page for links to each local camp site’s status.

Fall Colors are really starting to show up around the area. However many areas are also already bare of leaves. That early frost in June did a lot of damage so this years show will suffer in some areas. If your looking for a good drive try the June Lake Loop and Rock Creek Canyon. Peak viewing is about 2 weeks away.

Mountain Biking Fall is a great time to get out and ride your mountain bike in the Mammoth Lakes area. The Mammoth Mountain Bike Park will be open this weekend with access via the Village Bike Shuttle and Chair 2 only. This is the last weekend for lift access. Fishing Season Fall fishing is great in the eastern sierra. At this time of year stocking is still taking place and the crowds have left until next summer. Nothing better then fishing with awesome fall colors all around. Learn more about Fishing in the Mammoth Lakes Area.

The Lakes Basin Season is slowing down, now is the perfect time for some late season fishing, hiking and biking. The marinas are also open, and the new mammoth lakes basin bike path is clear.

Hiking: If your looking for a couple fun hike’s in the lakes basin, try out the Crystal Lake Hike or the TJ / Barret Lakes hike from the Lake George parking area.

The road and campgrounds in the Reds Meadow Area are OPEN AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER they are removing 10,000 downed trees in the valley so watch for workers and expect delays if your driving down to Devils Post pile. Use this link for all news and information for this area.

Area Road Conditions are in great shape at this time. 395 just south of Mammoth is being resurfaced so expect some delays and a slow down to 35 for about 4 miles. Now that Fall is here it is time to get your winter car kit ready and in your car whenever you come up to Mammoth. Trust us we can get snow on the roads at anytime without warning from this point on.

I had a low of 50 on our deck here at 8100 feet last night. No wind at this time just calm conditions. Looks like a perfect summer day is on hand.

This week we will have highs in the 60′s for the Lakes Basin and Mammoth Mountain to mid 70′s in Mammoth Lakes with low 80′s expected in Crowley Lake for the next few days.  Afternoon SW winds 5-15 mph can be expected as well.

We have light winds to 5 here in Old Mammoth at this time and up to 15 mph on Mammoth Mtn.

Pt Cloudy skies with a low of 47 on our deck here at 8100 feet last night.  It got done to 33 here on Saturday morning.

This week we will have highs in the mid 60′s for the Lakes Basin and Mammoth Mountain to mid 70′s in Mammoth Lakes with low 80′s expected in Crowley Lake for the next few days.  Afternoon SW winds 5-15 mph can be expected as well.
